DIY Aquarium Airline Filter
Great pump to run this filter

Air-driven filters are extremely common in the aquarium hobby. Most frequently used would be the sponge filter that operates on the principal of suction created by a rising stream of air. In this project, we show you how to build an air driven filter using a plastic bottle, some biological media and an air pump. This project is extremely inexpensive and can be constructed in just a few minutes. We use suction cups to attach out air driven filter to the wall of the aquarium, enabling us to place it almost anywhere. You can chose to use other types of media, although we’ve found its best to stick with the lightest weight material you can get your hands on.
Overall, this is one of the most inexpensive and efficient DIY aquarium filters your can make. The added oxygen in the filter also enhances the ability for nitrifying bacteria to compete with other microbes resulting in efficient ammonia detoxification and a healthier environment for your fish.
