Making your own bio media for your filter is an option, and in this video we show you a few materials which can be safely used. However, all of the materials used in this video do not provide anywhere near the surface area of other commercial bio medias meant to be implemented in your tank.

 

     If you decide to use these materials keep in mind that you many need significantly more volume to accomplish an adequate filtration of your tank. This project is meant to highlight a last ditch effort to filter an aquarium if you have no other media available.
