This filter input is designed to be paired with the DIY canister filter. This input is just one design of several that can be linked to a ton of different external filters. We like this project because its simple, cheap and effective. All you need is some PVC pipe, a few elbow and a threaded hose fitting that allows attachment to your main filter tubing.

 

     No PVC cement or silicone should be needed on pieces like this that involve a siphon of water traveling through them. The pressure inside the pipe should not be high enough to generate leaks, but just know you have the option to permanently seal all connections.
